Did you know that the menstrual cycle is more than just a period? The full cycle lasts 28 days on average, and consists of different phases of hormonal changes that have different impacts on us and our bodies.
While I’m sure every menstruating woman has experienced the frustration that comes with a monthly period, one of the benefits of our cycles is that they provide us with a wealth of knowledge regarding our bodies! If we take the time to recognize changes and patterns during our cycle, they actually give us a chance to check in with the status of our health every month.
So, what are some reasons someone may track their menstrual cycle?
To find out when you are most fertile
Whether you are trying to get pregnant or avoid getting pregnant, this information is useful!
To discover if your mood changes are related to your cycle.
To discover if your digestive complaints are related to your cycle.
To easier recognize when there are changes that may require medical investigation.
For example, are your cycles longer than normal? Are you noticing any severe changes in mood during your cycle? These are some examples of changes that may warrant investigation.
To feel more in touch with your body!
Cycle tracking over the long term can give you great insight into how your hormones are affecting both your physical and mental health.
